To Kaftan or not to Kaftan

Kaftans of all shapes and sizes seem to be gracing us with their presence and are right on trend across all walks of fashion right now. So what is your take on the humble kaftan ? Do you love it or do you hate it ? In Australia top designers such as Camilla Franks is basing her core range on the kaftan and branching out adding to her range with various collections of bottoms, jumpsuits, outerwear and her new kids line. Her designer kaftans are to die for with of course a designer price tag and are worn by A list celebrities worldwide and of course locally here in Australia. In South Pacific nations such as Fiji, Raratonga, Samoa, Cook Islands and Micronesia where tourism is their core business all good resorts would be foolish not to stock a great locally made or designed kaftan in their resort boutique's especially with such local talent as Mena, Resort Wear by Tav and Toni Marie Resort Wear. But are kaftans just a fashion fad ? Or some would question possibly a fashion fopar ? Or should they be reserved for wearing only on holidays and then be put away in the back of your wardrobe ? What are your thoughts ? For me personally, I love a kaftan ... especially one that is strong in design with vibrant colours. The right kaftan can be dressed up or down and you dont have to pay a fortune for it. A kaftan can be worn regardless of your shape or size and kaftans with belted waists should be utilised to accentuate your waist or line with size not being an issue. If you are handy with a needle and thread and dont mind dusting off the "Singer" many haberdashery shops are now stocking easy to follow patterns in the latest styles and this Spring/Summer of 2015 is offering so many colourful choices of materials, why not have a go at making your own designer kaftan ? A great kaftan top combined with a great pair of bottoms can be so classy or a kaftan dress in either a short or longer length teamed with a pair of strappy flats can be so, so sassy. So this summer why not be daring and adventurous and break the trend away from mainstream fashion and try a kaftan ? I know I will be.

    1. Hello lovely Helene...thank you for your feedback!

I am looking into having a variety of both tops and dresses at our PFA party in January for the Digicel and Westpac ladies to try on and sample, so you may be able to try and possibly even buy your first one then!

      Cheers

Yes agree that you have to be totally comfortable in what you are wearing... I mean after all if we think we look great, we feel great and ooze self confidence dont we ?!

Funny that you should say the kaftan is retro because RETRO IS SO BACK IN over here right now...especially florals and fluoros!
